Inovasi ini mengembangkan model prediksi kualitas minyak cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum), berdasarkan penanda eugenol dan caryophyllene, melalui pengukuran spektrum sample dengan Near Infra Red Spectroscopy (NIRS) portable. Data selanjutnya dianalisis dengan Principal Component Analysis (PCA) dan Partial Least Square (PLS) dari software The Unscramble X 10.4. Inovasi ini dapat mencapai akurasi pengukuran di atas 90%, sehingga dapat menggantikan cara tradisional yang mengandalkan pengalaman dan indera manusia yang murah namun subjektif; atau pengukuran laboratorium yang lama dan mahal.

This innovation developed a predictive model of clove (Syzygium aromaticum) oil quality based on eugenol and caryophyllene markers, by measuring the spectrum of clove oil sample using a portable Near Infra Red Spectroscopy (NIRS). Data were further analyzed by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Partial Least Square (PLS) from the Unscramble X 10.4 software package. This innovation can achieve measurement accuracy above 90%, so it can replace traditional methods that rely on human experience and senses that are cheap but subjective; or expensive and long lead-time laboratory measurements.
